What's new for 2013?
Botanical Gardens
~ Our opening will be much sooner than previous years (April 6th) because we have almost 16,000 spring flowering bulbs. Our spring flowering trees such as magnolias, redbuds among others will be ushering in the spring season.
~ We have more than 5,000 annuals, double from 2012, to be planted throughout the gardens. Guaranteed colour from the end of May to October!
~ The fountain display will more than double this year to 116 fountains all choreographed to brand new music, composed by Darren this winter. Three unique fountain displays are sure to entertain visitors of all ages. Check out our calendar of events when each of themed programs begin.
~ Over 1,300 more perennials will be planted in April, as well as many new tree and conifer varieties. Another 700 plants including the entire conifer collection are now labeled.
~ Don’t miss our new Aviary (still under construction), however our peacocks, swans and other ornamental birds will be arriving in early spring.
~ Like most gardens, many more projects are ongoing and new many features will continually be added.
Garden Centre
~ We are now carrying perennials in the garden centre with a focus on newer and uncommon plants.
~ A brand new Whistling Gardens book will be released this spring, featuring the gardens through the years and various individual plants in the gardens. It makes a great gift, keepsake and reference guide. It will be on display at the Visitor booth.
With so much to see and explore, we hope you can join us for an afternoon or even make a day of it. Whether you're looking for that special plant, want to see our fountains choreographed to music or just planning a day trip adventure to relax in a quiet atmosphere near a waterfall or our new two-acre pond, Whistling Gardens will create memorable experiences and cater to the senses.
Our unique Garden Centre continues to offer the largest selection of conifers in the country and unusual woody treasures. For several years already, Whistling Gardens has attracted collectors and gardeners across several provinces and the US. We are proud that we have been referred as the "go to" garden centre for new and unique plants. Our growing houses are open to the public as well.
